Planning a wedding can be a massive task especially when considering all the different elements that go into such a special occasion! Lots of smaller decisions need to be made by the couple with their suppliers for all those final attention to detail choices.
Flowers are just one aspect of your big day but can be very important in complimenting your venue and tying together your theme and colour scheme. Most couples have considered the bouquet and buttonholes and have maybe had a few thoughts on table flowers. However below is a comprehensive list of all the flowers and arrangements that you may need for the big day. Obviously all of the options may not be applicable for you depending on tastes, venue, theme and budget.
Bridal Party
- Bridal Bouquet - there are different options on shape and style and the possibilities for colour and flower type are endless. Plus additions such as ribbons, charms, diamantes, pearls etc should also be considered.
- Bridesmaids bouquets - you should consider whether these will match the bride or whether they will contrast in colour to dresses etc. Sometimes the Maid of Honour bouquet is made slightly different or a tad larger.
- Flower Girls - baskets, wands, petals, mini bouquets are popular choices for the little ones.
- Hair flowers - often flowers are required for the bridal party to wear in their hair.
Buttonholes and Corsages
- Grooms Buttonholes - the groom usually has a buttonhole consisting of a flower featured in the bridal bouquet often with complimentary sprigs to differentiate it from the standard groomsmen.
- Gents Buttonholes - popular choices are roses, calla lilies, carnations and gerberas.
- Mum's Corsages - the mother of the bride and groom will usually have a fancy corsage to adorn their outfit, handbag or worn as a wrist corsage.
- Guests buttonholes - most guests will organise their own but if you wish everyone to match we can design them to your theme.
Ceremony Flowers
- Alter/Registrar Table Arrangement - a floral display is often placed on the table where the register will be signed and is great for photo opportunities.
- Entrance Flowers - sometimes the entrance to the church or venue will be decorated with flowers. Previous weddings have included milk churns, archways, trees, decorated gateways.
- Pew/Aisle End Flowers - little clusters of flowers in your colour choice look lovely spaced out down the aisle.
- Pedestals - larger arrangements can create a beautiful impact during your ceremony. Placing two either side of the alter area is traditional.
Reception Flowers
- Top table arrangement - if there is a dedicated top table facing the rest of the guests it custom to have a long low arrangement placed in front of the bride and groom.
- Guest table centerpieces - the options here are endless, whether you go for tall vases filled with lots of blooms or jam jars filled with flowers , it's a great way to add colour and style to your tables.
- Guest book/card box table flowers - a small arrangement of flowers is a great addition .
